State Minister for Social Welfare Md Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru on Saturday said all the elderly persons would be brought under the allowance programme in phases.
"The present government is working sincerely for the welfare of the people of the country and to bring one hundred per cent senior citizens under the allowance programme in phases," he said.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a function during his visit to Daffodil International in Sobhanbagh in the city, said a press release.
The programme was organized by Bangladesh Senior Citizen Welfare Society titled 'The Impact of Covid-19 on the Elderly People of Bangladesh'.

Jiban Kanai Das and Syed Ishtiaq Reza were present, among others.
"For the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina we have been able to run our activities through digital platforms," Khasru said.
