Allocation for ACC sees rise in budget

In the proposed budget for 2017-2018 fiscal, the government has allocated Tk 150 crore for the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) which is 22 percent greater than the outgoing revised allocation.

Besides, Election Commission (EC) received Tk 1,717 crore which is 22.6 percent less than the outgoing revised allocation.

Finance minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Thursday (June 11) placed a mammoth Tk 5 lac 68 thousand crore budget for 2020-21 fiscal year at the parliament.

The government is taking zero-tolerance policy against corruption, the minister said addressing the parliament.

"Many of the drive launched against corruption in the current fiscal year were appreciated by all quarters. ACC is working to build a rule of law based administrative structure by uprooting corruption from the society to ensure sustainable socio-economic development," he said.

In the outgoing budget, TK 140 crore was allocated for ACC but in the revised budget this allocation was trimmed down to TK 123 crore.
