Amader Shomoy to continue upholding spirit of independence: Noor Ali

Unique Group Managing Director Mohd Noor Ali on Wednesday affirmed Dainik Amader Shomoy's unwavering commitment to the principles of independence, impartiality, and structural integrity.

He underscored that the newspaper would remain steadfastly neutral and refrain from taking sides in any matter.

Noor Ali, also managing director of New Vision Ltd, the owning company of Amader Shomoy, came up with the remarks at the 19th anniversary celebration of the newspaper held at its Tejgaon premises in Dhaka.

He iterated the newspaper's dedication to discussing vital topics such as freedom, the liberation war, and truth while advocating for the interests of all, irrespective of their political affiliations.

The newspaper, symbolised by the colours of Bangladesh flag – red and green, has consistently served as a platform for these important discussions, he said.

Mohd Noor Ali expressed his firm commitment to supporting the liberation war throughout his life, positioning himself as an unwavering force in the ongoing struggle for liberty. He reflected on Bangladesh's historical journey, from being ruled by various foreign powers to achieving independence in 1971 under the visionary leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Citing that Bangladesh has earned independence, Noor Ali said the country’s battle for liberation is far from over, as long as falsehoods, tyranny, lawlessness, injustice, and economic challenges persist. Amader Shomoy will continue to work as a supporting force in the struggle for liberty, he added.

The celebration arranged with the theme 'Somoy Ebar Amader-Bangladesher,' was attended by political figures, businesspeople, social personalities, educators, intellectuals, and government officials, to whom Noor Ali extended his heartfelt appreciation.

Dr Khondaker Showkat Hossain, Advisory Editor of Amader Shomoy and Acting Editor of The Business Post, acknowledged the unwavering love, respect, and trust that individuals from diverse backgrounds have bestowed upon the newspaper during its 19-year journey. He expressed hope that this support would continue to thrive.

Showkat emphasised the newspaper's commitment to responsible journalism and its embodiment of the values of the liberation war, secularism, democracy, Bengali Christian culture, nationalism, and the pursuit of an egalitarian society. He underscored the newspaper's unwavering respect for all individuals and its unyielding dedication to these principles.

Abul Momen, Editor of Amader Shomoy, stressed the newspaper's role in representing Bangladesh and its proactive contribution to harnessing the potential of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. He acknowledged the challenges posed by globalisation, the market economy, climate change, and the imperative for the new generation to adapt and prepare accordingly.

Momen iterated the newspaper's unwavering commitment to the spirit of the liberation war while advocating for democratic values and providing a platform for the expression of diverse opinions and preferences in society. He expressed the aspiration for advancements in education and human resource development to ensure the newspaper's continued success.

The event concluded with the recognition of five outstanding individuals from various fields for their significant contributions. Information technology entrepreneur Subir Nakarek, digital school entrepreneur Kamal Hossain, mountain IT entrepreneur Amir Hossain, agricultural entrepreneur Noor Alam Liton, and agricultural entrepreneur Promila Mondal were honored with special awards for their remarkable achievements.
