Ami Probashi app gains 2m users

Ami Probashi – an app-based solution from the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare to digitalise the process of hunting jobs abroad – has gained traction in Bangladesh, gaining more than two million users in just six months.

Moreover, registrations of existing and aspirant migrants in the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training’s (BMET) online database have gone up by 500 per cent, read a press release from the Ami Probashi on Tuesday.

Ami Probashi provides online BMET databank registration, job search, prioritised Covid vaccine registration, and many other features for migrant workers. The app contributed TK 17 crore in revenue to the government exchequer, the release added.

Laborers currently make up 26 per cent of the app’s user base, followed by drivers at 9 per cent, salesmen 6 per cent, hotel boys 6 per cent, businessmen 5 per cent, cleaners at 5 per cent, office assistants 4 per cent, electricians 4 per cent, construction workers 3 per cent, and computer operators 2 per cent.

The users are gradually leaning towards this app for availing hassle-free services from the comfort of their homes without having to travel to physical offices, saving time, money, and effort in the process.

The app was launched on May 2021 aiming to reduce complexities and challenges prevailing in the migration process, and to guide and facilitate Bangladeshi citizens wishing to pursue a job abroad.

Ami Probashi promotes employment

Aspiring migrants can search for government approved jobs and access numerous legitimate recruiting agencies for interviews, appointments, and direct communication by installing the app. The app does not originate or post jobs by themselves.

The employer’s portal allows direct communication via user and employer, further cutting out middlemen and traps. Their 24/7 call center and live chat provide support and assistance for aspiring migrants and migrants abroad.

Priority vaccine registration facility

The app facilitated the priority vaccine registration of more than 700,000 users. They qualified for priority vaccine registration by availing their BMET number.

Though Ami Probashi’s main purpose was not to facilitate vaccine registrations, it quickly integrated a priority vaccine protocol, combined with BMET, to enable aspiring migrants to avail vaccination via their BMET databank registration number.

Other important services

The app also offers details regarding the nearest Passport Offices, Medical Centers, DEMO Offices and Bangladesh embassies/missions abroad.

Ami Probashi will soon add more government services to their platform. Ami Probashi, along with the MoEW and BMET, will continue to push for digitisation of processes despite steady pushback from vested interest groups.

It is also partnered with BRAC, Ami Probashi enables users to search for BRAC Centers, communicate with BRAC Recruiting Agencies and enroll into BRAC training centers.

How to enjoy the services of app?

Those who seek to enjoy the app’s services should download it from Google Play store, or visit www.amiprobashi.com to register.

The registration should be completed using a person’s mobile number and then their passport must be scanned following instructions.
