Amir Hossain Amu, a veteran member of the ruling party Bangladesh Awami League's advisory council and former minister, has been made the coordinator and spokesperson of the AL-led 14-party alliance.

The ruling party's general secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader confirmed the matter Wednesday.

He said, "With the consent of the alliance partners, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, President of the Bangladesh Awami League, has appointed Amir Hossain Amu, a senior leader and advisory member of the Awami League, as the alliance's coordinator and spokesperson."

According to sources, AL presidium member Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury was the coordinator of 14-party alliance and AL presidium member Mohammad Nasim was the spokesperson. As Mohammad Nasim passed away and Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury is currently unwell, it was decided to appoint Amir Hossain Amu as both the coordinator and the spokesperson.
