A Dhaka court on Friday sent Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) Chairman and former Member of Parliament Barrister Andaleeve Rahman Partho to jail after end of his three-day remand in a case lodged over vandalising and setting fire to the Setu Bhaban in the capital's Banani area.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rashidul Alam passed the order as police produced Partho before the court and pleaded to keep him behind bars till the end of the probe in the case, reports BSS.

Earlier on July 30, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saiful Islam had placed Partho on a three-day remand in the case. Partho was placed on a five-day remand in the same case on July 25.

The detective branch (DB) of the police arrested Partho from the capital's Baridhara area on July 24.

A mob of 250/300 people on July 18 stormed into the premises of Setu Bhaban, vandalised many vehicles, and motorbikes, ransacked different sheds and rooms, and later set those on fire. They attacked and beat many employees black and blue.
