Body of Saquib Anjum, who was killed during the Anti-Discriminatory Student Movement on August 5, was exhumed after 72 days of burial as per the directives of the court in the city on Wednesday.
Subsequently, the body was sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) for autopsy.
Executive Magistrate Oyon Farhan Shams, Investigation Officer Moshiar Rahman and deceased family members were present at the time of exhumation at Tikapara Graveyard, reports BSS.
Investigation Officer (IO) Moshiar Rahman told BSS that the body of Anjum was buried without a post-mortem due to a lack of doctors and police just after the mass upsurge on August 5.
For this reason, the body was exhumed as per the court order for proper investigation of the case, he added.
Saquib Anjum, a student of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at Varendra University, was shot dead during the movement in front of Shah Mukhdum Degree College.
Father of the deceased Mainul Haque has lodged a case with Boalia Model Police Station against 342 people, including former Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) AHM Khairuzzaman Liton and city unit General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Dablu Sarker.
IO Rahman said some of the accused of the case including Dablu Sarker and Juba League leader Jahirul Islam Rubel, were arrested.
