Another 20 lakh doses of Sinopharm vaccine reach Bangladesh

Another two million doses of the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine reached Bangladesh in two consignments on Saturday. 

The first consignment carrying the doses landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 11:35pm and the second at 3:00am.

Dr Md Shamsul Haque, line director at the Directorate General of Health Services said, "As per the agreement, a total of 1.5 crore doses of the vaccine will reach Bangladesh within three months."

With this, Bangladesh has received a total of four million doses of Sinopharm vaccine so far.

Earlier on July 3, Bangladesh received 10 lakh Sinopharm doses and another 10 lakh the next day. 

China also sent 11 lakh doses of the vaccine to Bangladesh as gifts on May 12 and 13.
