Evaly Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Rassel and his wife Shamima Nasrin, the company’s chairman, faced another lawsuit on Wednesday.
Md Mujahidur Rahman, an aggrieved customer of the controversial e-commerce platform, lodged the case with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Debdas Chandra Adhikari on charges of embezzling Tk 85,000 through fraudulence.
The court recorded the plaintiff’s statement and ordered the Dhanmondi police to accept it as a first information report, said state lawyer Azad Rahman.
Earlier on September 16, Rapid Action Battalion arrested Rassel and Nasrin from their residence at the capital’s Mohammadpur after a customer filed a fraud case against the duo with Gulshan police station.
They were remanded for three days in the case the next day.
On Tuesday, police produced the couple before a Dhaka court again seeking seven-day remand for each in another case filed with Dhanmondi police station.
The court put Rassel on one-day remand and sent Nasrin to jail.
