Another official of National Board of Revenue (NBR) died from Covid-19 while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital Monday night.
The deceased, Sudhangshu Kumar Saha, was a deputy commissioner (Tax) of NBR.
Confirming the matter, Syed A Momen, a senior information officer of NBR, said Saha, 40, breathed his last at around 11pm at the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital.
He is the second official of NBR to die of coronavirus.
Earlier, on June 3, superintendent of Chattagram Customs House Md Jasim Uddin died from the virus.
According to a press release issued by NBR, deputy commissioner Sudhanshu Saha belonged to the 27th cadre batch of the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS).
Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Muneem, chairman of NBR has expressed his grief and condolences to the bereaved family.
