Ansarullah Bangla Team Chief Mufti Jashimuddin Rahmani, convicted in the Blogger Rajiv Haider murder case, has been released on bail from Kashimpur High Security Central Jail, Gazipur.

Rahmani was released around 11:30am on Monday, confirmed Deputy Jailer of Kashimpur Rezaul Karim.

On February 15, 2013, blogger Rajiv Haider was hacked to death in front of his home in Palash Nagar under the city Pallabi area. Rajeev's father filed a case with Pallabi police station over the killing.

On August 12, 2013, Rahmani was arrested from Barguna. A Dhaka court sentenced him to five years in prison in the Rajib murder case. Besides, a total of four cases were filed against Rahmani under the anti-terrorism and ICT acts.

Deputy Jailer of Kashimpur Rezaul Karim said, “Mufti Jashimuddin Rahmani was granted bail on February 6, 2008 in Uttara West Police Station in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act. He was granted bail by a court on Sunday.

“Other cases filed against him have been withdrawn. Rahmani was released after verification of his bail documents.”
