APA ensures transparency, accountability in activities: IGP

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed on Sunday said the Annual Performance Agreement (APA) is a decision for a time-bound plan which ensured transparency and accountability in government activities and proper utilisation of resources.

"Transparency and accountability of Bangladesh Police would be ensured by implementing the APA. Overall, it will build a dynamic management, effective from July 1 to June 30 of the specified financial year," he said after signing the APA with police unit chiefs at the Police Headquarters in Dhaka.

The APA for FY2022-23 was signed between the Police Headquarters and other units of Bangladesh Police.

Benazir Ahmed signed the agreement with the heads of 36 units of Bangladesh Police.

Additional IGP Md Mazharul Islam delivered the welcome speech on the occasion.

The APA agreement is a very important and modern administrative strategy of the government, the IGP said, adding, "I thanked the prime minister for taking such an initiative for the police department."

He called upon the police officers to work sincerely for the establishment of rule of law by maintaining law and order in the country and instructed all unit heads to achieve and implement its target through its regular review.

Additional IGPs and heads of various units were present at the APA signing ceremony.

Bangladesh Police has secured the first position in the Ministry of Home Affairs by getting the highest number in the APA agreement for the FY2018-19, while it secured second place in FY2019-20.
