Arafat to cross Bangla Channel protesting global warming

Arafat, a Bangladeshi social activist, is all set to cross the Bangla Channel of Bay of Bengal for the 8th time in 'Fortune Bangla Channel Swimming-2021' competition aiming to raise awareness about the adverse impacts of global warming.

Staring his journey from 2015, Arafat has already crossed the Bangla Channel several times in last seven years.

This year, the 'Fortune Bangla Channel Swimming-2021' will be held on December 20, said a press release.

A total number of 80 swimmers are going to face this mountainous task in its 16th edition. Considered to be the finest adventure in Bangladesh, Arafat has been a part of this crossing every year since 2015.

“We will lose our island and Bangla Channel in line with many parts of low-lying land in our country just because of rising in the ocean level due to the global warming” Arafat said.

“I am pledging a request to all the national and international friends and their communities to step forward and take part in controlling climate change by reducing their carbon emission and through my swim in the Bangla channel at the Bay of Bengal this winter”, he added.

This year, Arafat's eco-friendly effort for raising awareness on the impact of climate vulnerability is voiced with and supported by Meghna Group of Industries, CKH Network and Youable.
