An alleged peddler of arms and drugs was killed in a reported gun battle among two groups of rivals in Nishindara-Chakor Para area of Bogura city early Wednesday (July 22).
The deceased, identified as Al Amin Sheikh Rabby alias 'Goru Rabby', was accused in a total of seven cases on illegal arms and narcotics trade and attempted murder charges and also under the special power act, said police.
According to sources from Bogura Sadar Police Station, tipped off about a gunfight among miscreants at a garden near Nurani intersection, a number of teams of police led by Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP, Sadar circle) Sanatan Chakrabarty, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Humayun Kabir and Inspector (investigation) Rezaul Karim went to the spot and found Rabby critically injured around 2 am Wednesday.
He was then rushed to the Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital (SZMCH) where the physicians pronounced him dead.
A one-shooter gun, two rounds of bullet and three round cartridges were recovered from the spot.
