Arms, drugs recovered from Uttara during raid with Shahed

Detective Branch (DB) police have conducted a special drive with Regent Group's chairman Shahed Karim alias Md Shahed at Sonargaon Janapath area in Uttara. Drugs and arms were recovered from there during the raid on Saturday night.

Confirming the matter to the Business Post on Sunday, Tapan Chandra Saha, officer-in-charge (OC) of the Uttara Paschim Thana, said, "DB police filed two cases with the police station against Shahed in this regard."

"Police recovered a pistol, a bullet, a magazine, ten bottles of phensedyl, and five bottles of foreign liquor from an abandoned car from there," he added.

Earlier on 18 July, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) received 92 complaints against Shahed within 24 hours of opening a hotline number and an email address to receive complaints against him.

On 16 July, A Dhaka court placed Regent Group Chairman Shahed and managing director Masud Parvez on 10-day remand each in connection with cases filed over providing fake Covid-19 test reports and embezzlement of Tk 3.68 crore.

Shahed was arrested on July 15 near the Labangabati river in Debhata Upazila around 5.30 am.
