Army Aviation forward base inaugurated in Chattogram

The inauguration event of Army Aviation forward base of Bangladesh Army in Chattogram and the addition of two Bell 407 GXI helicopters was held at Chattogram Shah Amanat Airport on Monday.

The establishment of the forward base will facilitate air support to Cox’s Bazar and Chattogram Hill Tracts by reducing the cost of operations, said a press release.

Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed was present as the chief guest on the occasion.

Senior Army, Navy and Air Force officials and media personnel were also present at the event.

General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for adding the two state-of-the-art helicopters in the Army Aviation.

These two helicopters made by the US will help train new pilots and can be used for search and surveillance operations.

Moreover, the helicopters will provide medical assistance, delivery of emergency supplies.
