A Chattogram court has issued an arrest warrant against City Group Chairman Fazlur Rahman in a case filed by Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI).

Judge Qazi Shariful Islam of the fourth court of the Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate gave the order on Thursday afternoon.

PP advocate Ashraf Khandkar confirmed the matter.

“The BSTI filed a lawsuit in the court on October 20, 2019 for not containing the government's prescribed level of vitamin A in City Group's edible oil,” Khandkar said.

“BSTI had seized some soybean oil of City Group's Teer brand during a raid in tests show that the level of vitamin A in the edible oil is lower than the government prescribed level. However, they do not get TM license from BST,” he added.

Ashraf Khandkar also added that the parameter of vitamin A in edible oil is usually 15, However, the parameters found in the City Group’s Teer brand soybean oil were 3.16 which is below standard.
