Bangladesh is going to resume administering the second dose of AstraZeneca vaccine in Dhaka division from Monday — the rest of the country from August 7.

Shamsul Haque, the spokesperson of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) and also the Covid vaccination management committee member secretary disclosed the information at a press briefing on Sunday.

Informing that 15,21,947 people are waiting to receive the 2nd dose of AstraZeneca vaccine, Shamsul said he regretted the delay.

For the lack of vaccine doses, the government suspended AstraZeneca 1st dose vaccination on April 26 and the 2nd dose at different times at different vaccine centres last month.

Japan under the COVAX donated 10.26 lakh doses of AstraZeneca jabs last month while another six lakh doses would reach the country on August 3.
