Md Atiqur Rahman, a veteran graphic designer of The Business Post graphics team, was killed during Monday’s unrest in Dhaka [Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un].

He had left his home in the city’s Shanir Akhra around 11am Monday, and then went missing. After searching the city for Atiq, the members of his family found his body in the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue at 10pm that night.

Family members say Atiqur was shot on the head, and died on the spot near Shanir Akhra Ideal School, number 5 Palashpur Main Road around 1pm on Monday. They also demanded justice for the brutal killing of Atiq, and due honour as he became a martyr for his country.

Atiqur is survived by his wife, two children, parents and a younger brother. His family has taken his body to his native home Barishal for Namaz-e-Janaza and burial on Monday night.

The Business Post conveys deep condolences to his bereaved family members, and prays for the peace of his departed soul. May the almighty Allah grant him Jannatul Firdaus.
