Attacker on Peer Habib’s house jailed

A Dhaka court has sent Sabbir Ahmed to jail after a two-day remand in connection with a case over an attack on the house of Bangladesh Pratidin Executive Editor Peer Habibur Rahman.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Masudur Rahman passed the order after the investigation officer and also Inspector of Cyber and Special Crime Division of Detective Branch (DB) Ahsan Habib Khan brought the accused before the court on Friday.

Earlier on November 3, a Dhaka court placed Sabbir Ahmed on a two-day remand after the investigation officer prayed a five-day remand in this case.

The accused Sabbir Ahmed spread a rumour through his Facebook account that the domestic help of Peer Habibur Rahman’s house was tortured to death.

Later, some miscreants damaged the main gate of the house of Peer Habibur Rahman in the capital, stormed into the flat and also vandalized furniture.

After the incident, a case was filed at Uttara Purba Police Station in this matter.
