Battery-run autorickshaw drivers blocked the Staff Quarter intersection of Demra in Dhaka demanding the release of all autorickshaws seized by police.
The protest led to a long tailback on both sides of the highway.
"Police have seized several hundred battery-run autorickshaws in the last few days. It is getting very difficult for us to survive. We can't purchase food. We demand to release all the autorickshaw seized by police," autorickshaw driver Shohel said.
“We will continue our demonstration until our demand is met,” he added.
"We have received direction from the authorities to seize the autorickshaws," Demra Police Sub-Inspector Iqbal said while speaking to The Business Post.
