Azad Majumder appointed DPS to chief adviser

Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad Majumder has been appointed deputy press secretary (DPS) of the interim government’s chief adviser. The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification regarding his appointment on Thursday.

According to the notification, Azad will serve in his role on a contractual basis for the duration of the chief adviser’s tenure or until further notice.

He is required to relinquish any existing positions or affiliations with other institutions and organisations and his monthly salary has been set at a maximum of Tk 71,200, along with additional benefits, it added.

Before this appointment, Azad Majumder served as the joint news editor at the English daily New Age and previously held the position of news editor at The Business Post.

In related appointments, Shafiqul Alam, the bureau chief of the news agency AFP, has been named the press secretary to the chief adviser.

Apurba Jahangir has been appointed as deputy press secretary, and Shabbir Ahmed has been designated as assistant private secretary.
