The local administration on Saturday temporarily suspended the movement of all types of vessels plying on Brahmanbaria Sadar-Bijaynagar upazila route after a collision between two trawlers left at least 21 dead.
Bijaynagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rabeya Afsar confirmed the matter.
Earlier, on Friday afternoon, a trawler carrying passengers capsized after colliding with a sand-laden trawler at Laiska Beel in Pattan union of Bijaynagar upazila.
At least 21 have reportedly died so far in the incident while many more are still missing.
Brahmanbaria Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge Emranul Islam said a rescue operation is being conducted to find any more survivors.
