Firefighters still struggle to douse the flame in Bangabazar even after 28 hours, although the fire department confirmed bringing the fire under control on Tuesday afternoon.
Twelve firefighting units were working to douse the blaze on Wednesday.
The fire that started early Tuesday might have sparked from one of the fabric warehouses, according to the firefighters.
“The flame must have stemmed from all the huddles of fabrics being stowed outside,” said Fire Service DG Md Main Uddin.
He also said, “Every building, every landmark is important to us. A hundred firefighters were deployed to deal with the incident.”
The FSCD DG also affirmed that a probe committee was made to investigate the cause of this fire.
