Bangladesh recorded a 34.95% remittance growth in seven months of the fiscal year (FY) 2020-21 compared to the same period of the last fiscal year.
The country received $1.96 billion in remittance in January 2021, said the finance ministry on Monday.
The remittance volume in January 2021 reached $1,962.60 million which was $1,638.43 million in the same period of last year, according to central bank data.
And the remittance figure stood at $14,907.35 million during July 2020 to January 2021. The number was $11,046.36 million during July 2019 to January 2020, the data showed.
According to the Bangladesh Bank, the country's foreign exchange reserve stood at $42,910.48 million.
However, the experts said the remittance inflow grew amid the Covid-19 pandemic as expatriate Bangladeshis continued to send their hard-earned money through the banking system instead of illegal channels.
