Bangladesh allows entry for fully vaccinated travellers without Covid test

The government has allowed the entry of travellers into the country if they complete the full dose of Covid-19 vaccine approved by the World Health Organization.

In this regard, the incoming passengers must carry the vaccination certificate, the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) said in a circular issued on Tuesday.

They need not require submitting any RT PCR-based Covid negative certificate, it said, adding that the decision will come into effect immediately.

The travellers, who are yet to be fully vaccinated, must carry RT PCR-based Covid negative certificates done 72 hours ahead of departure to enter Bangladesh, the CAAB said.

No Covid negative certificate is required for incoming passengers below 12 years old, it said.

The civil aviation authorities said irrespective of vaccinated or unvaccinated, if a passenger shows Covid symptoms on arrival, he/she will be sent to a government authorised hospital/facility for Covid testing.

If the result comes positive, the passenger will be isolated at a government-nominated facility or a hotel at his/her own expense.

The traveller will undergo another test after seven days of isolation and he/she will be released if the test result is negative, according to the circular.

The CAAB said the outgoing passengers will follow the latest restrictions/requirements imposed by the transit/destination countries or by the airlines.
