Bangladesh stands 100th powerful country in the world when it comes to the question of passport as it moved one notch up from 101 to 100 in the Henley Passport Index 2021.
Henley Passport Index, the pioneer in ranking the world's travel documents, revealed that out of a total 110 spots on the index, Bangladesh now books 100th berth in the global ranking.
Bangladesh passport shared the same spot 100th with Lebanon and Sudan.
With the one-notch improvement, Bangladeshis can now travel 41 destinations without prior visa, the index shows.
Three south Asian countries Nepal, Pakistan and Afghanistan ranked 103rd, 107th and 110th respectively although neighbouring county Myanmar managed to secure 94th spot despite the latest military coup.
Hermit kingdom North Korea, considered one of the most repressive regimes in the world, got 102nd position in the ranking just two notches down from Bangladesh.
Global citizenship and residence advisory firm Henley and Partners ranks passport power on the basis of how many destinations their citizens can travels without a prior visa.
Among the other South Asian countries, Maldives ranks 60th, India 84th, Bhutan 89th and Sri Lanka 99th this year.
Japan and Singapore hold the top two spots in the index respectively, followed by South Korea and Germany in the third place jointly.
