Rear Admiral Ashraful Hoq Chowdhury has been appointed as the 13th Director General of Bangladesh Coast Guard.
Ashraful Hoq was appointed as the DG in a notification issued by the Deputation-1 Branch of the Ministry of Public Administration on August 17, confirmed Lt Commander Amirul Haque, BCG Headquarters Media Officer on Tuesday.
He said that Ashraful Hoq was commissioned on January 1, 1988, in the Executive Branch of the Bangladesh Navy. Later, his working life has been enriched by vast experience at sea and various trainings held at home and abroad.
He completed 'Missile Command and Tactics Course' from China; 'Gunari Specialization Course' in Pakistan; 'Staff Course' at Defense Services Command and Staff College Mirpur; 'Naval Staff Course' from US Naval War College; 'Armed Forces War Course' from NDC Bangladesh; 'Strategic Studies Course' completed in NDU China; 'Combined Forces Maritime Component Commander Flag Officers Course' completed at Pacific Fleet HQ in the United States.
Besides, Ashraful Hoq has successfully served in various important agencies of the Inter-Services. He represented the Bangladesh Navy in various seminars and foreign tours of high-level delegations. He has served in Sudan as an observer of UN peacekeeping missions.
He was promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral on February 7, 2021 and before his current appointment, he served as in-charge of the Khulna Naval Area.
