Even after suffering a huge blow on economic activities along with livelihoods and lifestyle due the Covid-19 pandemic, Bangladesh has successfully moved seven notches up and ranked 94th happiest country in the world.

As per the latest World Happiness Report 2022 released on Friday, Bangladesh surpassed almost all regional neighbours in the index considering 146 nations across the globe.

The index ranked Pakistan at 121st position, Myanmar 126th, Sri Lanka 127th, and India 136th among others.

Only Nepal has been ranked higher than Bangladesh at 84.

Last year, Bangladesh stood at 101st on the index among 149 countries of the world.

This year, Finland has been named the world's happiest country for the fifth consecutive year while South Asian country Afghanistan is the unhappiest nation.

The World Happiness Report, now in its 10th year, is based on people's own assessment of their happiness, as well as economic and social data, reports AFP.

It assigns a happiness score on a scale of zero to 10, based on an average of data over a three-year period.

The latest list was completed before the Russian offensive into Ukraine.

Russia stands at 80th position while Ukraine 98th on the report.
