Bangladesh registered 2 Covid-19 related deaths and 264 new infections in the past 24 hours until Monday morning.

According to the latest data, the total number of fatalities reached to 27,955 while the positivity rate was recorded 1.42 per cent on Monday, that displayed a upward trend compared to Sunday.

After adding the fresh cases, the total caseload jumped to 15,74,352 said a regular bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 18,614 samples at 836 laboratories across the country.

Bangladesh has so far tested 1,07,42,411 samples.

Meanwhile, 339 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24-hours, raising the overall recovery to 15,38,537.

Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8 last year and the first coronavirus-related death on March 18 the same year.

Meanwhile, the global Covid-19 caseload reached 257,643,035 and the death toll to 5,153,222 till Monday morning, according to US-based Johns Hopkins University (JHU) update.
