Thirty-eight people died of Covid-19 in Bangladesh in the 24 hours till 8:00 am on Saturday, taking the number of fatalities to 12,348, according to a release issued by the Director General of Health Services.
Besides, 1,028 people tested positive for the virus during the same period bringing the caseloads to 7,87,726.
The toll of recoveries rose to 729,798 with 759 patients got cured of the disease in the 24 hours taking the rate of recoveries at 92.65 per cent, said the directorate.
The rate of positivity now stands at 13.57 per cent and the mortality rate 1.57 per cent.
Bangladesh is currently under a nationwide lockdown which is scheduled to continue till May 23, as part of the measures taken against the spread of the virus.
