Bangladesh logged four more Covid-related deaths and 232 new infections in a span of 24-hour till 8:00am on Friday.

This is the lowest daily caseload in the country in 556 days. Last year, on April 14, Bangladesh logged 209 cases.

Also, during this period, the positivity rate dropped further down to a near 19-month low at 1.36 per cent. It was 1.51 per cent on Thursday.

With this, the daily-case positivity rate in the country remained below 5 per cent for the 32nd consecutive day.

In Bangladesh, the daily-case positivity rate reached its peak 32.55 per cent on July 24 this year.

The overall caseload now stands at 15,67,139 and the total fatalities at 27,805 according to the press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 17,100 samples at 832 laboratories across the country. Bangladesh has so far tested 1,01,88,623 samples.

Meanwhile, 564 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24-hours, raising the overall recovery to 15,30,647.

Among the fresh fatalities, two were males and two were females.

Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8 last year and the first coronavirus-related death on March 18 the same year.

Meanwhile, the global Covid-19 caseload reached 243,413,948 and the death toll to 4,948,176 till Friday morning, according to a US-based Johns Hopkins University (JHU) update.
