Bangladesh recorded 481 new Covid-19 cases, 14 new deaths in a 24-hour period until 8:00 am on Sunday.
The daily infection rate dropped to 2.36 per cent from Saturday’s 2.45 per cent.
The country’s overall caseload now stands at 15,62,359 and the total fatalities at 27,688, according to the press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 20,355 samples at 821 laboratories across the country. Bangladesh has so far tested 99,52,196 samples.
Meanwhile, 699 patients recovered from the deadly infection over the past 24 hours, raising the overall recovery to 15,23,833.
Among the fresh fatalities, 3 were males and 11were females.
Dhaka division logged the highest deaths with seven fatalities and one each in Chattogram, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal, Sylhet and Mymensingh.
Rangpur division reported no new deaths.
Bangladesh recorded its first cases on March 8 last year and the first coronavirus-related death on March 18 the same year.
