Bangladesh on Friday logged 3,883 fresh Covid-19 cases till 8:00am in the last 24 hours, according to the daily Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) press release.
The death from the virus, however, dipped slightly from the previous day, with 54 deaths recorded during the period, taking the fatalities to 13,399.
With the updated DGHS figures, total cases in the country now stand at 8,44,970 while the mortality rate remains at 1.59 per cent.
However, the positivity rate witnessed a sharp rise with 18.59 per cent infections registered in the last 24 hours, a 61-day high.
The health authorities said 7,78,421 patients, or 92.12 per cent, recovered so far from the disease with 1,955 in the last 24-hour period.
The ongoing restrictions on people’s movement, which has been extended until July 15, helped bringing down the number of cases but the situation seems to be deteriorating over the last few days.
Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus cases on March 8 last year and the first death on March 18, 2020.
