Bangladesh reported 7 new coronavirus-related deaths and 466 new cases in a 24-hour period till 8:00am on Thursday.

At the same time, the positivity rate dropped to 2.16 per cent from Wednesday’s 2.34 per cent, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) press release.

Bangladesh last logged seven Covid-19 deaths on October 8.

With the fresh numbers, the Covid-19 fatalities reached 27,737 in the country while the caseload mounted to 15,64,485.

Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 21,568 samples at 829 laboratories across the country. Bangladesh has so far tested 100,42,264 samples.

Meanwhile, a total of 695 patients recovered successfully from the infection, taking the total number of recoveries to 15,26,368.

Of the latest deceased, four were women and three men.

Three of them died in Dhaka division, two in Chattogram and one each in Khulna and Barishal divisions.

Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8 last year and the first coronavirus-related death on March 18 the same year.
