Bangladesh logs 9 Covid deaths, 237 new cases in 24hrs

Bangladesh registered 9 Covid-19 related deaths and new infections in the past 237 hours until Thursday morning. 

According to the latest data, the total number of fatalities reached to 27,970 while the positivity rate was recorded 1.25 per cent on Thursday, that displayed a downward trend compared to Wednesday.   

After adding the fresh cases, the total caseload jumped to 15,75,185 said a regular bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 18,888 samples at 836 laboratories across the country.

Bangladesh has so far tested 1,08,01,869 samples. 

Meanwhile, 360 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24-hours, raising the overall recovery to 15,39,553.

Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8 last year and the first coronavirus-related death on March 18 the same year.

Meanwhile, the global Covid-19 caseload reached 259,628,643 and the death toll to 5,178,043 till Wednesday morning, according to US-based Johns Hopkins University (JHU) update.
