Bangladesh added nine new coronavirus-related deaths and 275 infections in a 24-hour period till 8:00am on Sunday.

The positivity rate dropped to 1.49 per cent from Saturday’s 1.85 per cent.

With this, the daily infection rate in the country remained below 5 per cent for the last five weeks.

The overall caseload now stands at 15,67,692 and the total fatalities at 27,823 according to the press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 18,485 samples at 832 laboratories across the country.
Bangladesh has so far tested 1,02,22,150 samples.

Meanwhile, 386 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24-hours, raising the overall recovery to 15,31,327.

Among the fresh fatalities, three were males and six were females.

Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8 last year and the first coronavirus-related death on March 18 the same year.
