Bangladesh, Nepal to tackle environmental, climate issues together

Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury has called on Prime Minister of Nepal Pushpa Kamal Dahal, alias Prachanda, at the office of Nepalese premier “Singha Durbar” in Kathmandu on Tuesday.

During the meeting, they discussed in detail the long-standing mutual relations of Bangladesh and Nepal, the potential areas of cooperation on climate change and the scope to increase trade possibilities between the two countries, reports BSS.

They highlighted the shared commitment of Bangladesh and Nepal to addressing environmental and climate challenges in the South Asia region, according to a press release received Tuesday.

Nepalese Prime Minister Dahal and Minister Saber Hossain explored opportunities for collaboration on various environmental initiatives.

They expressed mutual interest in exchanging knowledge and best practices in sustainable forest management, renewable energy development and climate resilience strategies.

Prime Minister Dahal expressed his gratitude to the Bangladesh government as it has given scope for a large number of Nepalese students to study in Bangladesh.

He reaffirmed Nepal's commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development.

Saber Hossain underscored Bangladesh's dedication to enhancing environmental sustainability and its proactive role in international climate forums and acknowledged the potential for both nations to benefit from strengthened bilateral cooperation.

The meeting marked a significant step towards fostering a stronger partnership between Bangladesh and Nepal, paving the way for future collaboration in addressing regional and global environmental challenges.

Bangladesh Ambassador to Nepal Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury, First Secretary of Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu Md Humayun Kabir and high officials of the Nepal government were present at the meeting.
