Bangladesh observes World Environment Day

The World Environment Day is being observed across the globe with the theme of 'Reimagine. Recreate. Restore.'

Bangladesh is observing the day with its “National Tree Plantation Campaign of 2021”. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the campaign at Ganobhaban in the morning.

The Department of Environment and the Department of Forest have taken an extensive programme to raise awareness among the people.

Rallies will be held on the day in several parts of Dhaka and trees will be planted.

United Nation’s first international conference related to the environment was held on June 5, 1972. In the next conference in 1973, June 5 was declared as World Environment Day.

The day has been observed worldwide since 1974.
