Bangladesh-origin British citizen Mansoor Ahmad has been awarded with the British Empire Medal as part of the Queen’s Birthday Honours in the Platinum Jubilee Year.

He was awarded with the medal for his services to the community in the London Borough of Merton during the Covid-19 pandemic, said a press release.

Mansoor is involved with voluntary community services at institutional and community level for the past 15 years. He served as parent governor, chairman, secretary of a number of schools under Wandsworth Council and Merton Council and acted as member of a number of charities.

Mansoor completed his bachelors and masters in accounting from Chittagong University. He is also a fellow of the Institute of Financial Accountants, UK. He is now serving as manager (accounts and finance) of a British charity named Al Shirkatul Islamiyyah.

He migrated to the UK in 2007 under the UK government’s Highly Skilled Migration Program.
