Bangladesh ranks 5th in making, sharing child pornography content

Bangladesh has ranked fifth in the world in making and sharing of children pornography, according to 2019 data of the US-based National Center for Missing and Exploited Child. ( NCMEC)

Data recieved from the website suggest that more than five and a half lakh content of child pornography and child sexual harassment have been made and shared in Bangladesh during 2019.

According to the website, Bangladesh's IP (Internet Protocol) address has been used over 550,000 times to share child pornography. But the exact number of child pornographic material generated within Bangladesh has not been specified by the website.

On Sep 24, a meeting was held in this regard headed by deputy inspector general (DIG), logistics, of the police headquarters, Toufiq Mahbub Chowdhury.

DIG Toufiq Mahbub Chowdhury disclosed to media that CID's cyber investigation and operation unit has been given the responsibility to carry out an investigation in this matter, They would collect, analyse and act on the NCMEC data.
