54 patients died from Covid-19 in the country over the last 24 hours as of Sunday, taking the death toll to 2,928.
Besides, 2,275 more people tested positive for the virus, which makes 223,453 confirmed cases in total.
Additional Director General (Admin) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Nasima Sultana revealed the information at a regular online briefing on Sunday afternoon.
Dr Nasima mentioned that a total of 10,441 samples were collected and 10,078 tested in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 1,111,558 samples have been tested in the country.
With 1,792 new recoveries, a total of 123,882 patients recovered from coronavirus to date.
The deceased, of whom 40 were males and 14 females, belonged to the following age groups: one was between 21-30 years, three between 31-40, eight between 41-50 years, 15 between 51-60 years, 17 between 61-70, seven between 71-80 and three were between 81-90 years of age.
Under division-wise categorisation, 19 hailed from the Dhaka division, ten from Chattogram, eight from Khulna, seven from Rajshahi, six from Sylhet, three from Rangpur and one from the Barishal division.
48 breathed their last while undergoing treatment at various hospitals whereas six died at home.
Meanwhile, the global death toll from the novel coronavirus infection reached 643,384 as of Sunday morning, according to the Centre for System Science and Engineering of Johns Hopkins University.
Moreover, 15,984,384 Covid-19 cases have been confirmed around the world.
Although cases of new infection keep growing among the infected world population currently, most of them are in mild condition.
Among the currently 5,638,814 infected patients, 5,572,611 are in mild condition, which is 99 per cent, Worldometer records in its daily updates. On the other hand 66,203 (of the currently infected patients are in serious condition, and their percentage is only one.
So far, 9,218,739 people have recovered.
