Bangladesh reports 27 more Covid-19 deaths, 1,632 new infections

Bangladesh’s Covid-19 fatalities rose to 7,156 on Wednesday morning with reports of 27 more deaths in 24 hours, the health authorities said.

The mortality rate stands at 1.44 per cent, said the Directorate General of Health Services.

Forty coronavirus-related deaths were recorded on Tuesday.

Besides, 1,632 new Covid-19 cases were reported until Wednesday morning, taking the country’s caseload to 495,841.

So far, 429,351 patients – 86.35 per cent – including 2,622 ones in the last 24 hours, have recovered.

Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8. The infection number reached the 300,000-mark on August 26. The first death was reported on March 18 and the death toll exceeded 7000 on December 12.

Until now, 3,022,537 tests have been carried out, including 18,032 new ones. So far, 16.40 per cent of the tests turned out to be positive.

Bangladesh is seeing 2,911.46 infections, 2,521.05 recoveries, and 42.02 deaths per million.
