30 patients died from Covid-19 in the country over the last 24 hours as of Saturday, taking the death toll to 2,305.
Besides, 2,686 more people tested positive for the virus, which makes 181,129 confirmed cases in total.
Additional Director General (Admin) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Nasima Sultana revealed the information at a regular online briefing on Saturday afternoon.
Dr Nasima mentioned that a total of 11,445 samples were collected and 11,193 tested in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 929,465 samples have been tested in the country.
With 1,628 new recoveries, a total of 88,034 patients recovered from coronavirus to date.
The deceased, of whom 25 were males and five females, belonged to the following age groups: three were between 31-40, three between 41-50, eight aged between 51-60 years, 12 between 61-70, three between 71-80 and one more was between 81-90 years.
Under division-wise categorisation, 13 hailed from the Dhaka division, 10 from Chattogram, three each from Rajshahi and Khulna, and one was from the Barishal division.
18 breathed their last while undergoing treatment at various hospitals whereas 11 died at home. The remaining one was already dead when brought to hospital.
Meanwhile, the global death toll from the novel coronavirus infection reached 559,481 as of Saturday morning, according to the Centre for System Science and Engineering of Johns Hopkins University.
So far, 12,461,962 cases have been confirmed around the world after Covid-19, the disease caused by the new strain of coronavirus, was first reported in China in December last year.
Besides, 7,333,038 people have recovered till date.
