Daily Covid-19 infections in Bangladesh on Tuesday crossed 3,000-mark for the second day in a row with 3,319 fresh Covid-19 cases till 8:00am in the last 24 hours, according to the routine press release of DGHS.
The death toll also touched 50-mark for the second consecutive day since May 10. The mortality rate remained at 1.59 per cent.
With the fresh infections, the daily infection rate now stands at 14.27 per cent. It was 14.80 per cent on Monday.
So far, the health authorities have recorded 8,33,291 cases. Of them, 92.53 per cent have recovered, including 2,243 in the last 24-hour period.
The ongoing restrictions on people’s movement, which has been extended until June 16, helped bring down the number of cases but the situation seems to be deteriorating over the last few days.
Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus cases on March 8 last year and the first death on March 18, 2020.
