Bangladesh recorded 7,626 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours till 8:00 am on Wednesday, which is highest ever in a single day since the beginning of the pandemic, taking its tally to 6,59,278.
Directorate General Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the matter in a press release.
The number of total deaths from the virus rose to 9,447 with 63 more deaths recorded during the same period.
Bangladesh is currently observing a seven-day lockdown that began on Monday in the wake of a second wave of COVID-19 pandemic.
