Bangladesh recorded 77 COVID-19 deaths in the last 24 hours till 8:00 am on Saturday, which is the highest ever in a single day, taking its tally to 9,661 in the country.
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the matter in a press release.
More 5,343 people tested positive for the virus during the same period taking the total number of infections to 6,78,937, said the DGHS.
Bangladesh is currently experiencing a second wave of the coronavirus pandemic.
