45 patients died from Covid-19 in the country over the last 24 hours as of Friday, taking the death toll to 1,388. Besides, 3,243 more people tested positive for the virus, which makes 105,535 confirmed cases in total.
Additional Director General (Admin) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Nasima Sultana revealed the information at a regular online briefing on Friday afternoon.
Dr Nasima mentioned that a total of 16,327 samples were collected and 15,045 tested in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 582,548 samples have been tested in the country.
With 2,781 new recoveries, a total of 42,945 patients recovered from coronavirus to date.
The deceased, of whom 32 were males and 13 females, belonged to the following age groups: one was between 11-20 years, three between 21-30, four between 31-40, ten were between 41-50, nine were between 51-60 years, 11 between 61-70, four between 71-80 and three were between 81-90 years.
31 breathed their last while undergoing treatment at various hospitals while 14 died at home.
Meanwhile, global deaths from the novel coronavirus infection reached 453,268 as of Friday morning, according to the Johns Hopkins University data.
So far, 8,463,533 cases have been confirmed around the world after Covid-19, the disease caused by the new strain of coronavirus, was first reported in China in December last year.
Although cases of new infection keep growing among the infected world population currently, most of them are in mild condition.
Among the currently 3,591,466 infected patients, 3,536,905 are in mild condition, which is 98 per cent, Worldometer records in its daily updates. On the other hand, 54,561 of the currently infected patients are in serious condition, and their percentage is only two.
So far, 4,142,111 people have recovered.
