A fire that quickly tore through a bus at the Banglamotor intersection in Dhaka Monday night was brought under control after more than 30 minutes, authorities said.
No casualties were reported in the incident.
The blaze began around 9:30pm inside a bus of Saintmartin Paribahan. The vehicle engulfed in flames as plumes of thick, black smoke rose.
"On information, four firefighting units of the fire service responded to the blaze. The bus was well ablaze when the responders arrived. They could tame the flames around 10:10pm," Shahjahan Sikder, deputy assistant director (media cell) of the Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters, said.
"The fire left a burned-out shell of the bus with all of its windows blown out. However, the reasons for the mishap and the extent of damage could not immediately be confirmed."
