Police have arrested Fatema Khatun, a director of Mind Aid Hospital over the death of senior ASP Anisul Karim allegedly due to beating by staffers of the hospital in the capital's Adabor.
With her arrest, so far 12 staff of the hospital have been arrested over the incident.
Harun-Ur-Rashid, deputy commissioner of police( Tejgaon Zone) confirmed the news to The Business Post.
‘She was arrested from her residence at Dhanmondi at 12PM on Thursday afternoon,” he said.
Fatema was under police surveillance following the death of Barishal Metropolitan Police (BMP) Senior ASP Anisul Karim Shipon.
Senior ASP Anisul was taken to Mind Aid Hospital for treatment on Monday.
After admission, the hospital staff informed his relatives that Anisul had fainted.
Later, Anisul’s relatives took him to the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases where doctors declared him dead.
A CCTV footage of the room showed that the hospital staff physically assaulted Anisul.
A case was filed in this connection on Monday.
Police arrested ten people, including the manager of the hospital, on Tuesday. They were placed on a seven-day remand each by a court.
Those remanded are -- the hospital's Marketing Manager Arif Mahmud, Coordinator Redwan Sabbir, chef Md Masud, ward boy Zubayer Hossain, pharmacist Md Tanvir Hasan, ward boy Tanim Mollah, Sujit Chowdhury, Ashim Chandra Pal, Liton Ahmed and Saiful Islam Polash.
